Complete this form to register a bareboat charter declaration with the Registry of Shipping and Seamen (RSS).
When registering their vessel on Part IV of the UK, this form enables bareboat charterers to confirm their eligibility as owners.
Remember: Part IV of the register provides for the registration of a bareboat charter vessel. Moreover, entitlement and qualification to register applies to the charterer as if they were the owner.
On the form itself, vessel owners will provide details of the vessel (such as its name), who is managing the vessel, who directs and controls the vessel, as well as who will charter the vessel, and more.
Non-fishing vessels are entitled to be registered on Part IV of the register so long as the charterer is qualified to be an owner of a UK vessel.
Those who meet that standard of eligibility include:
British Citizens or non-United Kingdom nationals exercising their right of freedom of movement of workers or right of establishment under Article 48 or 52 of the EEC treaty or Article 28 or 31 of the EEA agreement. Additionally, it includes British Overseas citizens;, British Dependent Territories citizens, persons who under the British Nationality Order 1981 are British subjects, and many others.
Additionally, a fishing vessel can be registered on Part IV of the register if the charter is someone who is qualified to be the owner of a British fishing vessel.
Eligibility standards to be the owner of a British fishing vessel include:
British citizens or non-United Kingdom nationals exercising their right of freedom of movement of workers or right of establishment under Article 48 or 52 of the EEC Treaty or Article 28 or 31 of the EEA Agreement as well as a local authority in the UK, bodies corporate incorporated in an EEA State with a place of business in the UK, and European Economic Interest Groupings being groupings formed in pursuance of Article 1 of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2137/85 and register in the UK.
