Information required for UK merchant ship registration

Complete this form when applying to Parts I and IV of the UK Ship Register for merchant and bareboat charter ships.

Vessel owners should use this form to apply for a vessel to be considered eligible for registration on the UK Ship Register.

You are eligible to be the owner/charterer of a ship to be registered on the UK Ship Register if you are a British Citizen, a British Dependent Territories Citizen, a British Overseas Citizen, one of the companies incorporated in one of the EEA countries, companies incorporated in any British overseas possession which have their main place of business in the UK or one of the possessions, European Economic Interest Groupings, or are citizens of an EU member state exercising their rights under Articles 48 or 52 of the EU Treaty in the UK.

In the event that none of the qualified owners are UK residents, a representative person can be appointed. This person must be an individual resident in the UK or a Company that’s incorporated in one of the EEA countries with a place of business in the UK.

On this form, the vessel owner must include the current name of the ship, its IMO number, gross tonnage, the year the ship was built (which is essentially the ship’s age), certification required, whether or not the vessel will be carrying more than 12 people in addition to the crew and if so, how many, and its current flag.

There are other questions on the form which can be completed but are not mandatory.

This form has been optimized for mobile devices. As such, it can be filled out from anywhere and on essentially any kind of device, regardless of where the vessel owner may be. If you have any further questions, contact us.
